givUS is New Zealand's primary source of information about funding for community organisations and contains over 1200 resource schemes for communities, volunteer organisations and clubs. It includes funding from the government, local authorities, statutory and philanthropic trust, gaming trusts and some service organisations. 

OUR PURPOSE - To support our communities to build thriving, inclusive and equitable Taranaki.

The Community Organisation Grants Scheme or COGS provides grants to non-profit organisations delivering community-based social services that contribute to achieving locally-determined outcomes.

Te Puna Tahua - Lottery Grants Board - Distributes the profits made from New Zealand state lotteries, such as Lotto and Instant Kiwi, for the benefit of New Zealand communities.

The Taranaki Electricity Trust (TET) is a charitable trust. TET was formed in 1993 when New Plymouth Energy merged with the Taranaki Electricity Power Board. It receives investment income which is distributed via grants to suitable applicants from the area previously supplied by the Taranaki Electric Power Board.

Sport Taranaki is the provider of two funding streams through Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa and Taranaki Elite Athletes Foundation.  They can also provide support in finding funding for your next sport or recreation projects.

The Stratford District Council offers various funding opportunities to members of the District as well as community groups. 

There are various funding opportunities available to community organisations provided and administered by South Taranaki District Council.

Taranaki Foundation is our region’s Community Foundation. A local, independent, not-for-profit organisation connecting generous people with the projects and causes they care about most. 

Through a proven model of philanthropy, the Foundation invests and grows donations, distributing the income earned so that every gift keeps giving year after year. 

Each September, Taranaki Foundation runs a contestable funding round, awarding modest grants to support local charities, voluntary organisations, and community groups. These grants are made possible by generous donors who have established Named Funds to support the causes they care about, with applications carefully matched to each fund’s focus and criteria. Entirely donor-led and mission-focused, Taranaki Foundation inspires a culture of generosity across Taranaki. 

There are a range of gaming machine (pokie) societies that distribute grants to community groups across New Zealand.
